David Saltzman is a transformation strategist and thought leader with more than 30 years experience in the retail, wholesale, technology and administrative insurance arenas.

As Principal of The Saltzman Group, David has spoken nationally on subjects such as brand strategy, practice diversification, consumerism, leadership, and strategic planning. He has also served on the faculty of the national Consumer Directed Health Care Conference and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Miami School of Business. Additionally, David has been a speaker and moderator at the Employer Health Care Reform Congress.

He has shared the stage with Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John Snow, Commissioner of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (and current NAIC President) Kevin McCarty. In his educational series “Speaking of Books” for the NAHU Educational Foundation he has interviewed thought leaders such as Regina Herzlinger, Michael Cannon, Clayton Christensen, Arnold King, Dave Racer and others.

For the last 14 years he has written the monthly benefits column “To Your Good Health” in Life Insurance Selling magazine. David is a contributor to “Healthcare Reform: An Employer’s and Insurance Professionals Survival Guide” published by Health Care Reform Magazine and he is also the author of the upcoming book, “Really Simple Sales Success”.

He has been deeply involved in health reform since the early 1990’s and served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Community Health Purchasing Alliance, advised key members of the Florida legislature and lobbied for common sense reforms that brought access, choice and affordability.

David began his insurance career in 1981with State Mutual Life Assurance Company of America as a producer and ultimately, a trainer and sales and brokerage manager. In 1984 he founded D.A. Saltzman & Associates, an agency focused on retail sales in the corporate and executive markets.

David joined the National Association of Health Underwriters in 1983 and in 1996 served as the association’s national president. In 2003 he received the organization’s highest honor, the “Harold R. Gordon Memorial Award”. He is also a former chairman of the NAHU Educational Foundation.

In 1997 he accepted a position as President and Chief Technology Officer of Administrative Services, Inc., a multi-state firm that provided health, retirement and disability services to Taft-Hartley and commercial clients.

David went on to serve as Regional Director of Consumerism for Humana, Inc., and in 2007 became part of the senior management team at Carolina Care Plan. In 2011 & 2012 during his work with EmpowHR, Inc. he was responsible for the creation of The Benefit Experience, a cutting edge application that helps employees select and enroll in a variety of benefit plans while automatically and simultaneously creating sales of voluntary market products.
